Matthew Hornaday is the Director of Operations of Hege Financial Group, where he oversees the firm’s operations and leads strategic initiatives to support long-term growth and an exceptional client experience. He is passionate about aligning people, processes, and technology to improve organizational performance.
Prior to joining Hege Financial Group, Matthew served as Chief Operating Officer of an independent trust company, Trust Company of the South, where he spent ten years and helped implement a long-term strategic plan and key performance metrics that drove significant growth in team size and profitability. Following his tenure, he advised lower middle-market companies as a fractional executive, supporting leadership teams with operational structure, financial performance, and strategic execution. Earlier in his career, he held roles in corporate development at Hanesbrands, private equity at Five Points Capital (formerly BB&T Capital Partners), and investment banking at Wells Fargo Securities (formerly Wachovia Securities).He began his career at Grant Thornton and also served on Young Life staff. Matthew is a Certified Public Accountant and earned both his B.S. in Business Administration (2001) and Master of Accounting (2002) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Outside of work, Matthew enjoys spending time with his wife, Catherine, and two children, Knox and Cabell. He is active in the community and currently serves on Hope Presbyterian Church’s Missions Committee and as PassionLife’s Treasurer. Matthew enjoys playing tennis and golf and enthusiastically supporting UNC athletics.
